Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
