Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the team's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
